As many of you have heard, there are changes on the horizon for LandAmerica, one of the top title insurance underwriters in the United States. Recently, there was an announcement that LandAmerica Financial Group filed bankruptcy and that three subsidiaries of LandAmerica will be acquired by Fidelity National. On the heels of these announcements, a memo has been circulating stating that lenders should not accept title commitments and insured closing letters from LandTitle Insurance Company, LandAmerica NJ Title Insurance Company, and Title Insurance Company of America, subsidiaries of LandAmerica Financial.
Because of the similarity in name to Land Title Insurance Company, we have received numerous inquiries as to the status of our company. Land Title, Inc. is not affiliated with Land Title Insurance Company. We remain a thriving and active independent title insurance agent. Land Title, Inc. continues to provide policies in Minnesota and Wisconsin through our underwriters: Chicago Title, First American Title, Security Union, Lawyers Title and Stewart Title. We are also part of a national title agent network and are able to facilitate the ordering of title work for property anywhere in the United States.
